Patricia Washington Obituary

A Celebration of Life

Patricia Ann Washington was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 1, 1954 to the parents Oscar and Mae (Hall) Washington.

Patricia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Mt. Eagle Baptist Church.  Later on, she transferred her membership and united with Straightway Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Earnest Franklin.  On the Minister’s Board in 2002, Patricia walked into her prophetic calling.

Patricia was educated in the Chicago Public Schools system graduating from Calumet High School in 1972.  Patricia later decided to continue her studies attending Pivot Point Academy and became a Certified Beautician and worked at Emory’s Beauty Salon in downtown Chicago.  Upon Patricia’s retirement from hair care, she then devoted her time and energy to being a very active member of Amos Alonzo Stagg School’s Parent Teacher Association, also even serving as President from the time her children attended.

Mom was always a sarcastic character, but very loving.  “SHE DIDN’T PLAY…!”  She loved her family; especially doting on all five (5) of her grandsons.  Mom had the biggest hands that would swipe across our back from a distance! LoL  Mom would always say to us, “I love you so much!”

Evangelist Patricia A. Washington was a strong willed individual and truly exemplified the walk of “A Soldier in the Army of The Lord”!  After facing many health challenges, Patricia with no symptoms, developed COVID in April of 2020 and even suffered two debilitating strokes.  Patricia kept on living and was determined to NEVER give up.  Patricia fought with all that was within her until she suffered her third stroke on July 31, 2020.  She was then placed in hospice care and ten (10) days later, on August 10, 2020 @ 7:10 a.m., very peacefully and surrounded by the love of her family at home, The Master whispered in Evangelist Patricia Ann Washington’s ear, “Well done, good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mae Washington; her sister, Alice Williams; her brother, Charles Washington and her son-in-love, Eric Powell.

Patricia Ann Washington leaves to forever cherish her fond memories her two daughters, Michelle (Shon) Whitton and Charlene Powell; five grandsons, Lagaryus Bonney, Peter Lee, Jr., Adrian Morris, Jr., Tyrese Mitchell and Caleb Powell; five sisters, Marva Davis, Valerie Gaines, Darlene Washington and Diane (Greg) Jaudon; a loving brother, Oscar Washington, III; special friend and home care provider, Arthur Ingram; friends, Pamela King and Gayl Horton and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patricia will be greatly missed, yet will forever live on in our hearts!
