Mary Frances Savage was born to Mary Elaine Owens on May 28, 1929 in Nashville, Tennessee. Mary had one brother, Thomas Waddy who preceded her in death. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age under the care of her Aunt Dear who raised Mary after the passing of her mother.
Mary moved to Chicago in 1947 where she met Harold Savage. The two got married in the Spring of 1953. Mary is preceded in death by Harold and her sons Albert and Larry.
In 1965, Mary met David Gant. From this relationship her sons, Derrick and Kenneth Gant were born.
Mary worked for Frigid Meat Packing Company in the mid 1970’s. In 1983, Mary decided to explore her career opportunities by attending “The Career Academy” in downtown Chicago where she completed the Nurses Assistant Training Program.
Mary was an exceptional student and received all A’s in her nursing assistant courses. In April of 1983, Mary was awarded the Certificate of Excellence for a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). From 1985 – 1995, Mary provide home care services to bedridden patients. Mary enjoyed music, dancing and spending time with her family.
Mary leaves behind her sons, Eric and Anthony (Deadre) Savage, Derrick and Kenneth (Linda) Gant and her only daughter, Denise Savage; Grandchildren, Tina, Renee, Myisha, Kimyl, Kyna, Yolanda, Antonio, Anthony, Antoine, Cordale, Toni, Latevice, Kenneth, Breantia and sixteen great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
