Obituary
The life of Johnny Earl Hamp began on August 11, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. Johnny was born to loving parents, Willie Hamp and Rosie Lee Hayden and from the very start, Johnny was destined for greatness.
Johnny was educated in the Chicago Public Schools System, graduating from Austin High School. Johnny then went on to attend Grambling State University. Johnny only attended Grambling State for a short period of time because there was a call he had to answer. Johnny’s calling was to lead and encourage his brothers and sisters. His leadership went much farther than his siblings; he led and encouraged all those that he encountered. Johnny’s heart shined brightly and touched everyone who knew him.
Johnny was called home on April 22, 2018 at 6:21 p.m. in the Emergency Room of Mt. Sinai Medical Center.
Johnny was preceeded in death by his parents, Willie Hamp and Rosie Lee Hayden, one great-grandchild and a special friend Doris Jones.
Johnny leaves to cherish his memory:
Five (5) brothers; Maurice, Larry, Ricky, Ted and Lamar; Three (3) sisters; Debra, Dorothy and Phyliss; Five (5) children; Keisha, Nicole, Chiquita, John and Benjamin; Nineteen (19) grandchildren; Two (2) great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
