Obituary
James “Buddy” Monroe, Jr. was born in St. Louis, MO on December 31, 1942 to the union of Mary Atkins and James Monroe, Sr. Deceased). James was called home to the Lord April 8, 2018.
James moved to Chicago at a young age with his family, where he was educated in the Chicago School System. James served in the US Military, worked several years for Burlington Railroad, as well as Chicago Housing Authority.
James affectionately known by “Buddy,” loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. “Buddy” enjoyed preparing taxes for everyone and was always known as the family comedian. James accepted Christ at an early age and made Christ Community Church his home, under the leadership of Pastor Jackson.
James was married to Carrie. From that union he had two children Dawn and James, III. He later fathered Teshema and Mylando. He is survived by two sisters (Shirley and Geraldine), four sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, James was preceded in death by three siblings (Euralee, Tommy, and Dorothy.
His memory shall be treasured by a host of relatives, friends, neighbors, and his church family.
